About Amazon Home Services

What is Amazon Home Services?

Amazon Home Services is a new and simple way to buy and schedule professional services such as furniture assembly, house cleaning, and plumbing directly on Amazon.com. Whether you choose from our selection of pre-packaged or custom home services, the credit card you have on file with Amazon is the one charged for your service.

We've handpicked the best service providers in your neighborhood and require all service pros to be background checked, insured, and licensed if applicable. Service pros compete for your business based on price, quality, and availability. All services are backed by our Happiness Guarantee, so if you're not satisfied we'll make sure the job gets done right.

How does Amazon Home Services work? How do I buy a service through Amazon?

There are 2 ways you can purchase home services. You can add a predefined, pre-packaged service with an upfront price right to your cart and schedule your appointment time frame. Or you can submit a custom request for a home project you define, and receive estimates from nearby pros over email. No special sign up or subscription is required.

Once you've booked your service, you'll select 3 preferred dates and time frames. Your pro will confirm your appointment arrival time frame over email, in most cases, or by phone. Payment is issued directly from the card you have on file in your Amazon account.

Where is Amazon Home Services available?

Amazon Home Services is currently available in many cities in the US. Please visit Amazon Home Services to see the latest list. More locations and service pros are being added to Amazon Home Services every day, so be sure to check back frequently for updates.

How do I know if a service is available in my area?

You can find out if a service is available near you by clicking on a specific service you're interested in, such as TV Wall Mounting, and entering your zip code into the field near the top of the page.

Who does the work? How are businesses and pros screened?

Not just anyone can offer home services on Amazon. All of our service pros have been handpicked and are required to be business background-checked, insured, and licensed if applicable. Additionally, we require any pros traveling to your home to pass a criminal background check.Learn more

Where will the service take place?

Most services available through Amazon Home Services take place at your home, but there are select services that can be fulfilled at a specified store location, or even virtually, like remote tech support. If there are multiple options available for where your service can take place, you'™ll have the opportunity to choose your preferred location before adding the service to your shopping cart, and the option you choose – i.e. "in home" or "œin store" – will usually be included in the service title. The best way to know where your preferred service can take place is to read the information about the service on the detail page.

Will I need to purchase any parts for the service?

This varies by service. For example, if you're looking to get a TV mounted on your wall, our TV Wall Mounting service allows you to specify whether you'll provide the wall mounting bracket or if you'd prefer the service pro to provide it for you.

When purchasing a pre-packaged service, review the "What's included" section on the service detail page to find out what parts are included.

If you're submitting a custom request for your project, please include any product information or questions about parts directly in your request. You can follow up with your service pro to clarify any final details and logistics before the date of service.

Paying for a service

How do I pay for my service?

Whether you buy a pre-packaged or custom service, Amazon will charge the card you have on file in your Amazon account. Please note: you can pay for pre-packaged services using Amazon.com Gift Cards, but gift cards aren't currently accepted as payment for custom services.

What if the service provider wants me to pay them directly?

Direct payments are not allowed. If a provider asks you to pay them directly, please let us know by contacting Customer Service. If you pay the provider directly, or by any other means than through your Amazon account, your service will no longer be covered by our Happiness Guarantee.

If additional parts or labor warrant a change in the scope or price of an order, your pro can issue a change order and will have you verify the final amount in person. You'll need to verify the final amount, and sign off on the change in person.

Please note that price quotes provided by service providers for custom services are estimates, and therefore subject to change. There are many factors that may lead to a price change, including extra parts or time required to complete the service. Your pro will review their best estimate of the cost with you before the job begins, and will notify you if anything unexpected comes up on the job that may require a price change.

Can a service provider charge me a trip charge?

Yes, however this will be disclosed before the trip or the service. For example, if you'™ve requested a custom service, the provider may submit a request for an in-person visit with a trip charge to estimate the project. You'™ll be able to choose in advance whether you accept the offer and trip charge.

There should be no surprise trip charges from the service pro. For example, if the product you ordered is defective in some way, and the service pro can'™t perform the service upon arrival within your scheduled appointment window, you won'™t be obligated to pay a trip charge.

Custom services

What info should I include in my request?

You should include as much information about your custom project as possible, and attach photos of the work site if you can. Informal snapshots from your phone are very helpful.

It's also generally very helpful to include any relevant dimensions or measurements, as well as product or model information for any products you'd like installed, replaced, or assembled. The more details you provide, the more accurate your returned estimates will be.

How do estimates work?

After you submit the details of your project, service pros near you will respond with an emailed estimate for the job within 1 business day. The estimates they provide are based on the specific work required for each service. Some pros may ask you clarifying questions or request an on-site visit before they're comfortable providing an estimate.

Once you've received estimates for your home project, you'll have the opportunity to review them before deciding whether you'd like to move forward and book a pro.

Do I have to book the service if I submit a request?

No. Submitting a request is free and there's no obligation to purchase the service, even after a provider sends you an estimate for the work.

Why do I keep receiving estimates from service providers?

If you submitted a custom request, you'll start receiving emailed estimates from nearby service providers within 1 business day. In some cases, you may continue to receive estimates up until 3 days after you submitted your request.

How do I cancel an estimate request?

We don't currently support the ability to cancel a request for a custom service, but you will only receive emailed estimates for your project up to 3 business days after you submit your request. You are not obligated to book the service, even after receiving estimates.

How do I view and manage my estimates?

Go to Your Orders from your Amazon account, and click Your Home Service Requests under More Order Actions.

How do on-site estimates work?

For some projects, a pro may request an on-site visit before they can give you an accurate estimate.

If a pro would like an on-site visit, you'll get an email request that will include the price for the visit, if there is one. You'™ll be able to schedule the visit online, and the pro will email you the estimate for the service you requested after the visit is complete.

Some providers offer on-site visits for free, whereas in some states, service pros are required to charge at least a trip charge. Some providers waive the fee or give a discount if you opt to move forward with the service. Either way, you'™re not obligated to book any provider, even if they'™ve sent you an estimate.

Scheduling, rescheduling, or cancelling a service

How do I schedule a service appointment?

After you purchase a pre-packaged service, or after you choose to book a pro after receiving estimates for a custom service, you'™ll be prompted to select 3 preferred appointment arrival windows. Your service pro then reviews your preferences to either confirm one of the arrival windows you requested, or to suggest and confirm another time frame for arrival.

The service provider will contact you within 1 business day of placing your order to schedule the arrival window. Please note that the time frames scheduled are arrival windows, not appointment times.

How do I manage my orders, or reschedule or cancel my service appointment?

At any time, you can manage your service orders by navigating to Your Orders within your Amazon account.

You can reschedule or cancel your service up to 24 hours before your appointment. Go to Your Orders and click Contact Seller to email your pro with your cancellation or reschedule request.

If you want to reschedule or cancel your service less than 24 hours before your appointment window, you'll need to contact Amazon Home Services customer support, and you may be charged a fee. Review our Cancellation Policy for more info on how cancellations work.

What if my service provider doesn't show up for my appointment?

We hope you don't have to deal with this inconvenience, but if you do, contact your service provider by going to Your Orders within your Amazon account, and clicking Contact Seller. If you don't hear back from your pro within 2 business days, contact Customer Service. We'll follow up directly with the service pro on your behalf, and will email you within 2 business days with an update.

Please note that your account has not been charged, so you don’t need to worry about getting a refund. You only pay when you’ve signed to verify that the job has been completed.

How do I change providers?

To change service providers, you'™ll need to cancel the service and buy it again selecting the provider you wish to have. Please note that you can only cancel your service up to 24 hours before your appointment whether to change providers or to cancel altogether.

How do I submit feedback?
